Press release

  • This press release from 29 March 2007 refers to the recently published study by Marks LS, et al. in Urology 2007;69:532-5 entitled “PCA3 molecular urine assay for prostate cancer in men undergoing repeat biopsy”.
  • According to Leonard S. Marks, clinical associate professor of urology at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), “Men with elevated serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels and negative prostate biopsy findings present a dilemma because of the lack of an accurate diagnostic test. In this research study, the urinary PCA3 Score was superior to serum PSA for predicting the outcome of repeat biopsies. The results indicate that the PCA3 Assay may be a new tool to assist clinicians in the treatment of these “PSA dilemma” patients.”
