  • This letter to the editor describes the results of a small study in 15 French men suggesting that the PCA3 Score is reproducible and not influenced by a recent prostate biopsy
  • The PCA3 Score was assessed in 15 consecutive men in first voided urine after 1) an attentive digital rectal examination (DRE) and 2) 1-2 hours after a 12-core transrectal ultrasound-guided biopsy
  • Mean time between the first and second urine sampling was 14 days (median 15 days)
  • The individual PCA3 Score did not change significantly before and after the biopsy (-18%; P > 0.05) also not in 6 men (40%) with a positive biopsy (-1.5%; P > 0.5). Median PCA3 Scores before and after biopsy were 36 (range 9-287) and 27 (range 5-287) in all men, and 51.5 and 44.5 in men with a positive biopsy
  • The results of this small study suggest that the PCA3 Score is reproducible and is not affected by a recent prostate biopsy
